Certent Acquires IBM Cognos Disclosure Management

Heard the news that Certent is expanding their Disclosure Management capabilities? On June 30th, Certent announced the acquisition of several IBM products: IBM Cognos Disclosure Management (CDM), IBM Cognos Disclosure Management on Cloud (CDM on Cloud), IBM Cognos Financial Statement Reporting (FSR), and IBM Clarity 7. What does this mean for our client base?

For those who may not know, Certent has provided Disclosure Management services to many CDM clients as an IBM partner since 2013. For those clients, nothing has changed regarding their relationship with our services team and point(s) of contact. Instead, rather that only offering support for the CDM product, this acquisition allows us to drive product enhancement requests forward and own the long-term product vision for CDM – just as we currently do with our own Disclosure Management application.

What makes CDM different that will allow Certent access to other opportunities?

The IBM suite of products offers on premise and cloud platforms for multi-author reports to financial and disclosure reporting teams in North America, APAC and Europe, which give organizations advanced capabilities to handle regulatory requirements involving US GAAP and XBRL, IFRS and European Banking Authority and insurance industry frameworks. Hundreds of customers rely on these products to address complexities surrounding regulatory reporting mandates such as Solvency II, COREP and FINREP.

Both the Certent Disclosure Management and CDM products will remain fully functional and available to our clients. The acquisition marks an opportunity to increase our international reach as mentioned by our CEO, Mike Boese, “this acquisition supports our strategy to be the leading global provider of financial reporting and compliance software and services. It will expand our product suite, accelerate our product roadmap and expand our international footprint.”

Stemming from the agreement between Certent and IBM, IBM will continue to be a reseller partner of Certent. If you would like to read the full press release, click here.
